WEIRTON -- The Steubenville Art Association will hold a palette knife workshop from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Summit Art Gallery on Main Street in Weirton. The instructor will be Charlotte Jean Fitzgerald, who will demonstrate techniques for painting with a palette knife. This includes blending colors, the use of the knife to make fine edges and other tricks of the trade she has learned throughout the years.
The public is invited to attend at the cost of $20 per person. Checks can be mailed to: SAA, P.O. Box 1061, Steubenville, OH 43952 or payment can be made at the door with a credit card.
Fitzgerald has "quite an impressive background in art," officials stated, noting she studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and with Jack Beal and Sondra Freckleton. She has taught art for many years and her works have been sold throughout the United States.

Attendees can use oil paints or heavy-body acrylics. Palette-knife painting can be done on heavy paper or on canvas.
Officials stated they are hoping to have participants who will "take advantage of this wonderful opportunity."
