Edison to hold special meeting
HAMMONDSVILLE -- The Edison Local Board of Education will have a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stanton Elementary School.
The board previously announced the start time to be 6 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is for a board work session.

East Garfield to honor school board
STEUBENVILLE -- East Garfield Elementary School will honor the Steubenville City Board of Education with an upcoming breakfast in honor of School Board Recognition Month.
School boards across the nation are being appreciated throughout the month of January.
East Garfield will be offering the most important meal of the day, inviting members to dine in a classroom at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 24.
Educator Jamie Thompson said this is the second year for the event.
Officials will have activities planned throughout the day.
"January is School Board Recognition Month and we did something last year," she explained. "We chose a breakfast and decided to do it again this year."
Some students will be participating in the meal, with the cafeteria providing doughnuts and other goodies for the breakfast.
"Each class picks a student to have breakfast with the board and we will put together a slideshow," Thompson said. "Students will also discuss activities at the school."
WMC uniform sale
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary will be hosting a fundraiser. Organizers will be holding its Robert's Medical uniform sale.
This two-day event will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the atrium lobby of Weirton Medical Center.
The uniforms feature a variety of fashions styles and brands, officials noted.
Conference slated for Jan. 20
STEUBENVILLE -- The 2024 Winter Women of God Victory Campaign will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Father's House, located at 4244 Sunset Blvd. A free lunch will be included.
Guest speakers for the event will be Lisa Greathouse of Weirton and Tracey Mazeroski from Richmond.
"This is where we want to laugh, love and experience God's presence in our lives," officials said.
This is an inter-denominational women's conference, but is available to men who would like to participate, as well.

Kiwanis to hold team trivia competition
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville Kiwanis will hold a team trivia competition at 6 p.m. March 9 at the Steubenville High School commons area.
The cost is $120 per team. There can be up to 10 members per team, officials stated.
Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks.
There will be a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction.
Teams will compete for cash prizes and bragging rights, organizers said.
