TORONTO -- Members of the Toronto Senior Citizens club celebrated their Christmas meeting in the Karaffa Recreation Center Friday.
President Judy Bickler opened the Christmas-themed meeting by thanking special guests Mayor John Parker and his wife, Tracey; Don Clarke from Clarke Funeral Home; and Jeff Foster from J.E. Foster Funeral Home.
During the meeting, members honored Rosemary Bonofine for the years she served as treasurer and for her service to the club.
Bonofine received flowers and a gift of appreciation.
Special thanks were given to all members who served on this month's kitchen committee.
Mary Alice Meyer led the group in a prayer and in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Vickie Zeigler and Ed Zeigler volunteered to deliver more than 1,000 cookies to those serving as Toronto's first responders, including officials at the city police department, fire department and T.E.M.S.
The cookies were provided by members of the Toronto Senior Citizens group.
Many gifts were given to members in attendance, including a Christmas sign donated by Parker.
Clarke Funeral Home and Foster's Funeral Home donated calendars, pens and financial awards.
Additional gifts were presented by Bonnie Ewing, Mary Ann McGee, Patty Smith, Karen Krause and others. The big basket gift was won by Peggy Miller.
Thomas Graham served as the meeting's entertainment.
Graham sang Christmas songs and members joined in the singing.
