Stanton pupils receive special visit

2 min read

Juniors and seniors taking part in the Leadership Council program at Edison Local High School took time to visit Stanton Elementary School Friday morning and John Gregg Elementary on Thursday. Pupils in Alicia Hartman's classroom received a visit from senior Adali Reynolds, who read them the Christmas book "The Polar Express," by Chris Van Allsburg. More than 30 participants are enrolled in the extracurricular activities club, which is led under the direction of Greg Marsh and his co-adviser, Danah Beaver. The Leadership Council often visits the district's elementary schools, assisting pupils with breakfast, answering their questions and reading stories to them. Marsh said he is pleased with the group's dedication and what they are doing to help others, including their fight to stand up against bullying. The group created a Facebook page in which to build positivity and relay what they are doing for the district and community. Negative comments are not permitted on the site, as it is monitored to ensure only positive material is addressed. Marsh said he wants everyone to know the good work being done by the Edison students and to make everyone aware there is a place to turn when someone is in need of help. He expressed how important it is that positivity is always stressed by those in the group.
