MINGO JUNCTION -- During the monthly meeting of the St. Agnes Catholic Woman's Club, an announcement was made that an appreciation dinner was held for those at St. Agnes Church who served as pumpkin roll workers during the fall season. The dinner was for the women who attended all of the meetings, too.
The dinner was held at the St. Agnes Church hall and was catered by Josephine's.
Debbie Riccardo added meatballs and dessert to the meal. Dessert consisted of a tree made out of an extra-large pumpkin roll. It included sugar cookies with green sprinkles for the leaves. The dessert was made by Riccardo's daughter, Leigha.
Following dinner, an abbreviated business meeting was held. A roll call of officers was taken, with all being present.
The minutes were read and approved from the club's last meeting.
Joanne Raha provided the financial report regarding the pumpkin roll sale.
The leadership commission presented birthday gifts to Mary Karovic, Jeannette Yanssens and Marti Jones.
Kathy Coldebella stated she had no requests for any cards to be sent to members.
The Rev. James Dunfee suggested sending a card to Bill Minch, who is in the hospital. President Theresa Madden thanked all of the volunteers who were able to cover various shifts for the pumpkin roll pickup. She thanked those who were able to donate their time toward making phone calls, as well.
Special thanks were extended to Joann Babela. Babela made several calls and delivered a pumpkin roll to someone residing in Hopedale. Members noted she had gone above what was asked and went that extra mile.
Madden announced the group will have an Advent/Christmas gathering Dec. 12.
The event will be a potluck meal. Members will complete a sign-up sheet noting what they will bring. Members decided they want to continue doing the White Elephant gift exchange. Madden reminded members to bring in something nice and in good condition. She noted the item is to be wrapped so no one can tell what it is.
Riccardo reported members would be creating a popcorn treat for students at Bishop John King Mussio school for the Thanksgiving holiday. The committee which made the treats consisted of members Michelle Dickey, Michele Fabbro, Michelle Trikones, Madden, Rose Chappano and Kathy Flippo.
Those in attendance were reminded to continue praying for and supporting seminarians. "We currently support Peter Stetson and Sam Ivkovich, and after some discussion, members decided to also support Riley Morris," it was announced.
Carrie Petrozzi thanked those who brought in pairs of socks to be donated.
She thanked those who are donating food for the Bay Six pantry and announced the village's Light-up Night takes place in December. The club will provide a treat for all of the children, it was stated.
Madden thanked those in the club who volunteered to bake and who acted as captains for evening shifts. Members included Dorothy Mazik, Kathy Hoover and Paula Diorio.
A special gift was presented to Jackie Parks, who came to the rescue when members thought they were out of wax paper and foil.
It was announced the members had fun playing games and saying something nice about a person as designated by the roll of the die.
The next meeting will be held Dec. 12.
The meeting closed with a prayer and blessing by Dunfee.
