STEUBENVILLE -- Those looking for something to do this weekend will have the opportunity to attend the Nutcracker Masquerade Ball, a formal event taking place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the historic Renaissance Ballroom above Leonardo's Coffeehouse, located at 159 N. Fourth St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. To access the third-floor ballroom, guests must use the stairs, it was stated.
The masquerade is a festive, black-tie Christmas ball in which to wear one's "finest dress, dancing shoes and a mysterious mask."
Guest Zach Foreman of Pittsburgh will teach attendees how to waltz throughout the evening. Foreman will lead other ballroom dances as well. Those who made this year's ball possible include Nelson's of Steubenville, Leonardo's Coffeehouse and the Steubenville Cultural Trust. The price of tickets at the door will be $15 or $35 for family. Early bird pricing is $10 and can be purchased by visiting the website www.eventbrite.com/e/nutcracker-masquerade-ball-tickets.
In addition to music and dancing, activities will include board games, festive competitions and holiday movies.
There will be light refreshments and alcoholic beverages available for purchase throughout the evening, officials stated. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
