STEUBENVILLE -- Officials at the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County have created a winter reading program entitled, "Couch the 5K: Exercise the Mind."

To register for the "Couch the 5K" event, visit the library and pick up a race packet.

Participants will have the opportunity to win between Jan. 8 and March 31.

The reading program is intended for those who are 13 years old and older.

There are three levels to choose from. Every level offers a prize.

Audiobooks count as well, officials noted.

The library has mapped out a few walking trails in local parks, which are included in the race packet.

The three levels include: Level One, Level Two and Level Three.

Level one entails reading five books and filling up the course map included in the packet. Once completed, return it for a prize.

Level Two is for those who are feeling extra motivated for the New Year, library organizers stated. Those who can read five books in five different genres will complete the Well-Read Challenge and receive a prize.

Level Three is for those who are a reading Olympian. Those who see a challenge and cannot say no are the ones who will complete this Legendary Challenge.

They will read 5,000 pages during the course of the program, after which they will receive a prize from the first two challenges and a legendary prize as well.
