Wreath demonstration tonight
WEIRTON -- A demonstration of creating a Christmas wreath and centerpiece design will be given during the Disciples Women of Weirton's meeting at First Christian Church.
The meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. today in the lower level of the church, located at 3252 Main St. in Weirton. The demonstrator will be Roberta Kearns Taylor, a floral designer at McCauslen Any Occasion Florist in Weirton.
President Janet Rymer will conduct the meeting. Members are asked to donate children's throws for youth served by the Weirton Christian Center. Refreshments will be served.
Speaker to discuss PTSD, Saturday
TORONTO -- A disabled American veteran will be discussing post-traumatic stress disorder at the Toronto American Legion Post, Saturday. The post is located at 415 Market St. in Toronto.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will begin at 7 p.m., with dinner following the discussion. After the meal concludes, a period for questions and comments will be held.
This event is informal and open to all veterans, their families and friends, according to organizers. The event was arranged by members of the late Marine Sgt. Nathan Rock's platoon.
The post will hold a drawing for a firearm during the program.
Christmas concert planned
BURGETTSTOWN -- A Christmas concert will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Victory Life Ministries, located at 590 Old Steubenville Pike in Burgettstown.
The evening will include favorite holiday songs and refreshments following the presentation.
Cantata set for Sunday
STEUBENVILLE -- The choir of Finley Church, under the direction of Debbie Griffith, will present the Christmas Cantata "The Night before Christmas," at 6 p.m. Sunday. The cantata will take place at the church, located at 958 Lincoln Ave.
"'The Night before Christmas,' is a celebration of the season that retells the events leading up to Christ's coming, proclaiming the joy and hope brought to us through the birth of Jesus," church officials stated. All are welcome to attend.
