Grand-prize winner announced
WINTERSVILLE-- The Wintersville Woman's Club held its 21st-annual Holiday Splendor event at St. Florian Hall Sunday. The grand-prize winner was Amy Cunningham.
Cunningham received a sterling silver Sofia Constellation pleated, designer-cuff Elle bracelet with rhodium plating, along with white sterling silver drop earrings from Discovery Jewelers in Wintersville. Owners Zach Kovalski and Alexander French made the jewelry donation to the woman's club.
Knox Township to meet
TORONTO -- The second monthly meeting of Knox Township will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 18. This is in place of the previously-scheduled meeting that was set for Dec. 21. A special meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 28 to close the 2023 financial year. Both meetings will take place at the Township Garage, located at 25 township Road 247, Toronto.
Christmas concert planned
TORONTO -- A Christmas concert to benefit the Salvation Army will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Toronto First Methodist Church, located at 518 Main St. The concert will include performances by the Toronto First Methodist, Presbyterian and Baptist church choirs, Friends quartet, Jim Ray, Connie Brooks, Thomas Graham, Tammy Spicer and Jessica George-Kogut. The community is invited to attend celebrating the season with singing, officials stated.
Italian festival to hold Christmas gala
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Undo's Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival will sponsor its Christmas gala from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Undo's West in St. Clairsville.
The event features a sit-down dinner which includes hors d'oeuvres and table wine. There will be an Italian-style auction, special drawings, a cookie table and music to listen and dance to. Music will be performed by hometown, nationally-known Ray Massa and his EuroRhythms band. The cost is $40 per person. For tickets, contact any board member. Rolling of the Scroll program
STEUBENVILLE -- The Melinda Guy Women's Missionary Society of Quinn Memorial AME Church in Steubenville will hold its Rolling of the Scroll program at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, located at 515 North St.
As the scroll is rolled, the names of loved ones in memory or in honor of will be read. Deacon James Donaldson from Mount Zion Baptist Church in Triadelphia will serve as narrator. Lisa Mason will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Participating in the ceremony will be co-chairs Ilana Chester and Women's Missionary Society President Marge Monaco. Carol Ann Simmons will give the prayer and Jacqueline Gibson will read the Scripture. Charlene Dawkins from Greater Zion Temple Family Worship Center will be the guest pianist and render a selection. Other participants will include the Rev. Brent Kimball, Horace Hampton II, Juliette Hamilton, the Quinn AME Youth Choir and an instrumental duet featuring Rick Hicks and Pamela Bauman.
Sylvia Thompson and Lula Madison will be in charge of refreshments. The Rev. Buena Smith-Dudley serves as the church's pastor.
Senior center to hold bingo party
FOLLANSBEE -- The Brooke County Senior Center will hold a special bingo party Wednesday, with participants encouraged to wear their ugliest Christmas sweaters for the chance at winning a prize. Anyone 60 or older is welcome to attend the free event and may arrive early for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are requested by calling (304) 527-3410 ext. 101. The event is sponsored by the Wellsburg Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare family of companies.
SHS retirees hold meeting
WEIRTON -- Steubenville City Schools Retirees met for lunch at Theo Yianni's Nov. 9. During the meeting, Christmas and get-well cards were passed around for members to sign. It was announced the group's charity collection continues, collecting items for needy adults in the community. Anyone wanting to contribute has until Thursday to do so. Items can be given to either Linda Holub or Becky Bryan.
Officials stated the next meeting of the SHS retirees will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Pastaio's in Wintersville. There will not be a meeting at 12:30 p.m. on this date.

WELLSBURG -- The Friends of Brooke County Public Libraries are once again helping Santa Claus to send personalized letters to all boys and girls in the area through Dec. 18.
