Ohio Valley Italian Fest gala
WEIRTON -- The Undo's Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival will hold its annual Christmas Gala at Undo's West in St. Clairsville Sunday.
Those planning to attend should make their reservations for this year's premier Christmas event, officials stated. The evening will include a sit-down dinner which features hors d'oeuvres and table wine, an Italian-style auction, special drawings, a cookie table and music to listen and dance to by our hometown, nationally-known Ray Massa and his EuroRhythms band. Class of '59 to hold luncheon
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Class of '59 held its monthly luncheon Nov. 8. There were 19 individuals in attendance. Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing.
The group expressed congratulations to Coach Reno Saccoccia on his induction into the National Hall of Fame of high school football coaches.
October birthdays were celebrated, with cake provided by Donna Tepovich Kraska.
Preliminary plans were made for the 65th class reunion, scheduled to take place May 4.
"We look forward to reconnecting with all of you and encourage you to save the date and make reservations sooner rather than later," class officials said. Notifications for the reunion will be sent out by e-mail.
The Christmas luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Froehlich's Classic Corner. Call Eroshevich for reservations.
Maltese Ferret performance
STEUBENVILLE -- The Maltese Ferret will be performed at Froehlich's Classic Corner at 7 p.m. Dec. 31. For reservations, call (740) 283-9901. Private parties are available.
Retired teachers meet
TORONTO -- The Jefferson County Retired Teachers met Nov. 14 at the Starkdale Presbyterian Church. The meeting was called to order by President Dave Nicholson.
There were 21 members who reported 3,255 hours of volunteer service.
Marge Andres reported there are currently 140 JCRTA members and 123 JCRTA and ORTA members.
Ann Wiley resigned as the group's reservation chairperson. Someone will be needed to fill this position, officials stated.
Barbara Losey conducted a memorial service for the following deceased teachers: Roberta Kay Finney, Linda Kay Anderson, George Allen, Imogene Louk, Clara Joyce and Bernice Louise Francis.
Connie Crawford reported on the school house.
June Logan, ORTA liaison for Northeast Ohio, told members Dean Dennis, the new ORTA president, is very involved with ORTA activities.
Members were entertained by the Indian Creek choir.
The next general meeting will be held May 14 at the Riverview Methodist Church. Any retired or active teacher is invited to join.
Mingo to hold kids' Christmas party
MINGO JUNCTION -- The annual John Fabian Memorial Children's Christmas Party will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall. A light lunch will be served, followed by a visit from Santa Claus.
The event is for children between the ages of birth to 12. Reservations should be made by calling the hall at (740) 535-8037 or through text at (740) 457-6762.
The event is open to the public, officials said. When contacting, inform officials how many will be attending.
The event is co-sponsored by Scott Fabian and the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361.
