The Fort Steuben Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution kicked off the America 250 event, commemorating the 250th year since the Boston Tea Party took place. Under the direction of Chairperson Francine Hauldren, members gathered at the Mary H. Weir Library and the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County to donate patriotic children's books to directors Rik Rekowski and Mike Gray, respectively. The award-winning books included "The Boston Tea Party," and "Mary Katherine." Katherine was the only woman whose name was signed on the Declaration of Independence. The Fort Steuben Chapter sent a contribution of loose tea to be dumped into Boston Harbor, Saturday. The aim is to bring awareness to the youth of the community about how our nation was born, officials said. Those who visited the library in Weirton, included from left, Regent Mary Ann Jessee, Janet Rymer, Karen Blanc, Roberta Fedoush, Rekowski and Francine Hauldren.
