Zapolnik

Three students from the Ohio Valley have been recognized for their academic achievements by their respective university.

University officials stated the following students received the achievement for the Fall of 2023 semester.

Kent State University

KENT -- Jarred Zapolnik, son of JoAnn and Dave Zapolnik who reside in Conway, S.C., and are former Steubenville residents, received his doctorate of philosophy in education on Dec. 15 from Kent State University.

Zapolnik is a graduate of Steubenville High School and is currently the superintendent of Ohio's South Range School District.

Capital University

COLUMBUS -- Ethan Shaddinger, a student at Capital University in Columbus, was among those named to the Dean's List for the Fall, 2023 semester.

Shaddinger is from Steubenville.

In order to be named to the Dean's List, one must be a full-time, degree-seeking student and have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.69 during the semester.

Bob Jones University

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Audrey Thacker, a freshman at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., was among those named to the college's Fall, 2023 Dean's List. Thacker is from Winterville and is a biology major at the university.

Students have to earn a grade point average between 3.0 and 3.74 during the semester to make the Dean's List.
