Three Score seniors hold meeting

WEIRTON -- President Ed Powell called the October Three Score Senior Club meeting to order with Bob Shirer leading in the opening prayer. He then led in the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of "God Bless America."

Paul Yuros served as the meeting's program speaker, delivering from his book "Tales of the Upper Ohio Valley."

Vivian Weigel thanked Yuros for agreeing to be the evening's presenter and for sharing his work with the club. She stated the entertainment for the November meeting will be the Brooke High Madrigal Choir, led under the direction of Choir Director Isaac Cardot. The November meeting is scheduled for today because of the holiday, it was noted.

Treasurer Brenda Edwards provided the treasurer's report. Dues will be collected the remainder of the year, officials said. There will be no increase in dues for 2024, Edwards stated. The current membership is now at 74 participants, following the addition of Bob DiFonzo joining the club.

Kathy McCarrick complimented those members who decorated the meeting space for Halloween.

A slate of officers for 2024 was presented to the group, and included the following names, president, McCarrick; vice president, Vivian Weigel; secretary, Barbara Purks; and treasurer, Brenda Edwards.

Prizes were given to Cil Findley, Jack Cassella, Karen Welsh, Lois Cox. Willing Kemp, Nancy Lellie, Lynn Bish and Mary Louise Danek.

Following the benediction, which was given by Shier, the meeting was adjourned.
