New Alexandria's Buckeye Ruritan Club recently received a $500 grant for a new community lending library. Club member Gretchen Yanssens applied for the Donald R. Myers Legacy Fund to Support Partnership in Appalachian Ohio grant through the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. After being awarded the $500, the Ruritan Club agreed to match the funding, naming the library the "Buckeye Book Box." This small, tight-knit community always helps each other, and this small library is for others' use. It offers genres for adults and children. Yanssens said the little library is a success, with residents adding books to the current selections. She stated she checks on the library often and can tell people are utilizing it. She even added a small container of bookmarks, if needed.
