Janet Rymer, right, chairperson of the Fort Steuben Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, announced the chapter had its first state and district winner in the Women's Issues Essay Contest. During the September meeting, chapter member Kimberly VanDiver, center, presented her award winning essay "Breaking the Glass Ceiling in Law Enforcement." The piece is about being the first female law enforcement officer in the city of Clarksburg. First Vice Regent Jeanne Vega congratulated VanDiver and presented her with a plaque for her certificate.
