This year's recipient of the Helen Carrocci Child Advocacy Award was Russell Curry. The award is presented annually in Carrocci's honor, and given to a local individual who has made a major contribution to the development and success of the multi-disciplinary team, A Caring Place and the children of Jefferson County. Curry was presented with the award at a reception held Nov. 9. He was nominated by Joe Corabi, vice president of the board. Corabi shared the long history of Curry's service to his community, highlighting his commitment to serving those less fortunate throughout his lifetime. Amy Lingerfelt, director of A Caring Place, shared her appreciation of the recipient's humility and wisdom, stating his work as a member of the board of directors has made a lasting impact on the nonprofit organization and the community. Curry expressed his gratitude to those present and to his lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He went on to highlight the importance of A Caring Place to the children of Jefferson County.
