Alpha Mu Chapter meets
WINTERSVILLE -- The Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Sept. 9 at the Wintersville Methodist Church, with 30 members present. In the absence of President Carolyn Kibble, Barbara Pritts brought the meeting to order.
In the absence of Secretary Sally George at the June meeting, notes were taken by another member and not available for approval. A motion was made and accepted to dispense with those minutes. The treasurer's report was approved.
Barb Losey let members go through the new book's inserts, noting to pay particular attention to the page outlining the meetings for the year.
Under old business, members Diane Buck, Diana Thomas and Stephanie Glasure were removed from the roster due to non-payment of dues.
New business included Pritts mentioning the upcoming bus trip to Hartville by the Sunrise Seniors group. The trip will be held Oct. 20 at the cost of $42. Those wishing to attend should contact Losey.
It was noted cards should be sent to Barb Carter who is in Country Club Manor. Under hospitality, member Jan Primack read two stories about teachers; and a music update mentioned Friends have been booked for the club's December meeting. Personal Growth was in charge of the September drawing, with Julie Blanton winning a mum and Julie Workman winning the 9/9 drawing.
Members raised $230 for the Sycamore Youth Center. Officials noted Bernice Francis died in August. Donna Iachini presented a retirement gift to Marlene Wolf, for many perfect attendance certificates and several 5-year increment awards.
The chapter's next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Carrollton Bible Chapel. Members were asked to bring along a teacher or school nurse in an effort to increase membership.
Alpha Mu members will pay for the guest's meal and their own, it was noted. Each of the committees will bring a $15 drawing item, with guests receiving six free tickets.
The October program will include singing pumpkin carols and having interesting Halloween lore.
Anyone with interesting or creative ideas of activities to do during the meeting, or any event done in the classroom that worked out well, should be printed, along with 15 copies, and brought to the meeting.
The projects will be placed in an idea binder for guests. The meal will include ham loaf and cheesy potatoes. Lunch reservations must be made to Ann Wiley no later than Sunday. This includes any guests.
