Drakos celebrates 100
WEIRTON -- Lena Drakos recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Family and friends gathered at Serra Manor in Weirton.
According to her family members, Drakos enjoyed the day.
It was noted this was a "grand celebration" and included bringing in 100 roses.
Library events planned
The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will hold several events and activities fore residents of all ages throughout Jefferson County.

Children: Story Hour for children between the ages of 2 to 6 will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 11. Registration is needed by contacting the library. The hour will consist of parents and children listening to stories and making a craft.
A grab-and-go craft will be available at the library starting on Sept. 14. The projects will be available while supplies last.
Teens: DIY Croc Charms are going to be crafted at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Teenagers can express themselves by designing their own croc charms. Registration is required.
Adults: "We're Rockin' With the Oldies" on Sept. 16. Kent Farmer and Rich Grimm will be at the library at 2 p.m., with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will hear the songs from the 1950s through the 1970s at the event.

Children: Toe Tappin' Tuesday will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 for children between the ages of 2 and 6. Registration is required for this program, which combines music and literature.
Adults: Make a pumpkin craft using puzzle pieces at 5 p.m. Sept. 14. Registration is required.

Children: Grab-and-Go Story Time begins Sept. 11. Parents can pick up a bag containing the book "Applesauce Day" by Lisa Amstutz and do a craft at home when it's convenient.

Children: Musical Monday combines songs and books for those between the ages of 2 and 6. Join us at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11. Registration is required.

Children: Visit the library for our lap-sit program entitled, "Babygarten," at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 14. Children ages birth to two will listen to songs, rhymes, and books. Tot Time shares books, songs and is an introduction to the alphabet. Each class is limited to the first 15 children signed in at the children's desk prior to each class.
Classes will be held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, 18 and 25; at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 12, 19 and 26; 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13 and 27. If classes fill up for the 10:30 a.m. classes, another class will be added at 11:30 a.m., officials stated.
Adults: Jodi Russell will read poems from, "In Plena Vita-The Full Life," written by her late husband, Timothy Russell, at 6 p.m. Sept. 14. He began writing in the 1970s and published widely in literary presses, chapbooks and in his award-winning, "Adversaria" book in 1993. "In Plena Vita-The Full Life," contains poems from all of his books, as well as photos, a biographical timeline and a remembrance by Jodi.
Test your knowledge and challenge your friends for some "Golden Girl" trivia at 2 p.m. Sept. 16. Registration is required.
