STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Historical Association and the Tri State Writers Society are co-sponsoring An Afternoon with Ohio Valley Authors.
This open house is a free event taking place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Jefferson County Historical Museum, located at 426 Franklin Ave. There will be 10 local authors in attendance who will speak about their books -- many of which are of local historical interest. Each author will have their books available for purchase and will be happy to talk about and sign their books, according to museum officials.
Authors scheduled to attend the event include: Cadiz native Michelle Beall, author of three paranormal fantasy books, "My Little Butterfly," "My Blossom," and "My Skeleton's Story;" Wintersville author Susan M. Guy, author of true crime stories about the Ohio Valley; popular books include "The Moonlight Mill Murders" and "Mobsters, Madams, & Murder in Steubenville, Ohio;" Steubenville native Joan McGlone, author of the "The House on Seventh Street," which is based on the true story of her grandmother's life in Steubenville; Steubenville native Cherie Metcalf recounts her grief after losing her husband and finding strength through faith in the book, "Blue Heart: God's Assurance During Grief;" Wintersville native Mary M. Paice, author of "A Life of Love with Madam Judy Jordan," a widely-read book telling about the area's most famous madam; and Toronto author Robert Petras will have copies of his two books, "River Rats" and "Release the Belgium." Petras captures his audience with just the right balance of emotion and adventure, according to organizers.
Author and longtime educator Mary Antoinette Gallo Sunyoger will have copies of her book, "Life Lessons: A Connection of Souls Throughout Life's Journey." It offers narratives of students who taught her a life lesson from her many years in education, museum officials said.
Former Steubenville native Skip Trombetti will have copies of "Thirteen Months, Tales of a Marine in Vietnam," a personal account of his time in the military. He will have copies of "The Story Behind the Image," a pictorial collection of his photography work.
Hailing from West Virginia, Sarah Wagner is the author of many sci-fi paranormal fantasy books, notably "Hunter's Crossing," "Eldercynne Rising," "Hardwired Humanity," "Guardian of the Gods," and "Christmas in Bear Ridge."
West Virginia resident Mary Zwierczhowski, co-writer of "Secrets in the Mist: The History of Brown's Island," is slated to attend. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the museum at the event, officials concluded.
