Retired teachers to meet
WINTERSVILLE -- The second meeting of the Jefferson County Retired Teachers will be held Sept.12 at the Wintersville United Methodist Church, located at Main Street and Fernwood Road in Wintersville.
The business meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon reservations are due to Ann Wiley by Sept. 1.
Guest speakers will be Tamla Cole from State Teacher Retirement System to explain any changes to the health insurance for 2024, and Chris DeMarco, past president of ORTA, to give updates.
Any retired teacher is welcome to join at any time.
Book club to meet
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. Aug. 31 to discuss Lisa Wingate's "Before We Were Yours."

Senior fitness classes offered
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength-training class for older adults.
Participants start out by lifting light weights while seated and working at their own pace. Attendees should bring a set of light dumbbells, a stretch band and bottled water.
The video fitness classes are held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, located at 844 Main St. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, located at 945 Main St.

Library offers craft tree
FOLLANSBEE -- Every month, volunteers at the Follansbee Library decorate a tree with a craft of a certain theme. The craft may be taken home and put together, if preferred.
Those interested in taking part in creating the crafts should visit the library, located at 844 Main St. between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.
Resume and cover letter help offered
WELLSBURG -- Brooke County Public Libraries in Wellsburg and Follansbee are offering free help with preparing resumes and cover letters to those who are looking for a job.
The 20-minute sessions can be arranged by calling (304) 737-1551.
Job seekers may e-mail their letters and resumes for proofreading to bcpl@wvlclib. Those seeking assistance should give library staff at least 72 hours to respond to proofreading requests.
Books available for pre-schoolers
WELLSBURG -- Children 5 years of age and younger may be able to receive a free book every month from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which is being offered through the local support of Brooke County Public Libraries, Wellsburg Elks Lodge and Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network.

Roundtable date change
WHEELING--The Ohio Valley Civil War Roundtable will have as its November speaker Pete Chacalos. Chacalos will discuss West Virginia At Gettysburg at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Ohio County Public Library's auditorium.

Union Chapel to hold rummage sale
WEIRTON -- Members of the Kings Creek Union Chapel will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 in the church's parking lot.
Located at 2883 Kings Creek Road, organizers noted the chapel is at the bottom of the North 12th Street hill in Weirton.
All of the proceeds raised will go to the church so it may better help serve members of the community through its food pantry, movie nights and other community events, according to organizers.
Some of the items the rummage sale will be offering are clothes in various sizes and styles, toys including dolls and several types of dinnerware.
