RICHMOND — High-achieving seniors in the Edison Local School District were the guests of honor during the 2023 honors breakfast held May 22 in the high school’s cafeteria.
More than 100 people gathered for the event, including 26 students. Faculty, staff, administrators, board members and loved ones applauded those earning special recognition for their high school accomplishments.
Assistant Superintendent Julie Kireta welcomed guests and recognized the hard work of guidance department staff and those who offered their continued support for students. “In order to graduate with an honor’s diploma, students must meet all but one of the following criteria,” Kireta stated. “This was determined at the end of the third nine weeks’ grades.”
Honorees required four credits of each of the following: English; math, including Algebra I, Algebra II, geometry and higher; science such as physics and chemistry; social studies; three credits of one foreign language or two credits of two different languages; one credit of fine arts; a 3.5 grade- point average or higher; and a score of 27 on ACT tests or 1210 on SAT exams.
“We are here today to celebrate those accomplishments and acknowledge that you are part of an elite group,” Kireta continued. “Congratulations and good luck in your future endeavors.”
