STEUBENVILLE -- A first-time celebration of Women's Wellness event is being organized by the Jefferson County General Health District.
It will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Historic Fort Steuben, located at 120 S. Third St., Steubenville.
The event will include food trucks, giveaways and local agencies providing information "to keep the women in our community healthy," a promotional flier noted.
Toronto Sunrise Seniors plan
mother-father banquet Friday
TORONTO -- The Toronto Sunrise Seniors met at the Karaffa Recreation Center on April 24, welcoming back longtime member Susan Kulstad, who was visiting from Colorado.
President Pritts Barbara Pritts presided at the meeting, and Gloria Boley offered the blessing for the meal. Following a pizza party, the members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Secretary Laura Sheets conducted the roll call of officers and read the minutes of the previous meeting. Judy Sabol gave the financial report.
Marlene Garrett, social secretary, acknowledged April birthdays and thanked the April kitchen committee for their service. Lucy Timko, Dorothy Pavelka, Carolyn McCart, Jay Smith and Joyce Gribben comprise the May kitchen committee. Pritts reminded everyone that the first meeting in May is the mother-father banquet. It will be a catered event to be held in the commons area at 5 p.m. on Friday. A reservation is required for this event. Two individuals were remembered under the health report.
Members were reminded about travel opportunities to the Pittsburgh Strip District on June 21, the Smokey Mountains on Sept. 10-14 and the Amish country flea market on Oct. 5.
Betty Mossor and Garrett won the trivia game and were awarded gift cards to a local grocery store. Candi Murphy and Kulstad won the 50-50 drawing. The evening ended with a joke, announcements and "brag time." Following adjournment, members enjoyed playing bingo. Joe Radvansky called the numbers. Winners included Sabol, Paul Sherwood, Frank Marino, Don Pritts, Murphy, Garrett, Helen Bayne, Marsha McConnell, Mary Murphy, Boley and Lucy Timko.
The group will welcome Mayor John Parker, Jeff Foster and Don Clarke and their spouses to the next meeting on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m.
Brooke Library book club scheduled to meet May 25
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. May 25 to discuss "If You Tell: A True Story of Murder, Family Secrets and the Unbreakable Bond of Sisterhood" by Gregg Olsen.

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-rated animated film, "Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank," at 5 p.m. Thursday and the PG-13 rated comedy, "80 For Brady," at noon Friday. 'Junk in the Trunk' on May 20 at St. Stephen's Episcopal
STEUBENVILLE -- St. Stephen's Episcopal Church will host a "Junk in the Trunk" sale on May 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It will be in the parking lot behind the church at 284 Lovers Lane, Steubenville. There are plenty of vendor spaces available, but no bathroom facilities. It is $10 to rent a space for parking or $15 for two spaces. Participants need to bring their own tables.
GriefShare held on Sundays
BURGETTSTOWN -- Paris Presbyterian Church, located at 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, is sponsoring a GriefShare program that began April 23 and will continue through the summer.
Excluding holidays, it starts every Sunday at 6 p.m. It is a faith-based outreach ministry for individuals who have lost someone through death. For information, contact Gail Johnson at (724) 249-4647.
