STEUBENVILLE -- As many as 600 people were on hand March 24 at the Sycamore Youth Center in Steubenville for the second-annual Valley's Got Talent Kids' Edition Competition.
The competition involved children ages 8 to 13 who live within 35 miles of Steubenville, vying for $500 in prize money.
"We had 600 people at the event. We had two overflow rooms set up with video and a standing-room-only crowd. It was awesome," Bauman said of the event where the overall winner was Dalana Bove of Indian Creek Middle School, solo dancer.
Other winners in categories were:
CHOIR: First, Sycamore Classical Choir; second, Toronto Junior High School Choir.
MISCELLANEOUS: First, Benedict Gan; second, Brylee Woods; third, Maria Gessler.
GROUP DANCE: First, Robin Crosby, Magdalene Crosby, Claire Hernon; second, Sycamore Folk Dancers.
VOCAL GROUP: First, Speiro Vocal Trio; second, LOG Jr. Band; third, Speiro Junior High School Worship Band.
8-11-YEAR-OLD VOCAL SOLOIST: First, Skylar Hendrix; second, Destiny Angelucci; third, Cavell Wade.
12-13-YEAR-OLD VOCAL SOLOIST: First, Bailey McKnight; second, Nikolas Kline; third, Grace DeLong.
DANCE SOLOIST: First, Braelynn Lancaster; second, Avery Huff; third, Madyson Kostur.
Next up for the Ohio Valley Youth Network/Sycamore Youth Center is its annual fundraiser banquet that will be held April 19 in the Commons area at Steubenville High School, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Individuals are being encouraged to be a table captain for a table of six attendees.
The tickets are free to the event with a request for a donation at the end of the evening.
"We will have a number of talented youth perform, including many of the Valley's Got Talent winners, as well as testimonies by teens and adult leaders about the impact the Sycamore Center has had in their lives," Bauman explained.
