to host fish dinner fundraiser
IRONDALE -- Irondale United Methodist Church, located on Grant Street, Irondale, is hosting a fish dinner Friday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the church.
The menu includes fish, macaroni and cheese, green beans, hush puppies, cole slaw and dessert all for a donation to the church. Patrons can dine in or get carryout.
'Were You There?' play Friday at church in Burgettstown
BURGETTSTOWN -- Paris Presbyterian Church, located at 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, will present its reader's theater, "Were You There?" on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.
The play, written and directed by the Rev. Nadia Stropich, tells the story of Jesus' last hours, from the Upper Room to the tomb, through the eyes of the disciples, Roman officials, members of the Jewish council and bystanders whose lives were radically changed by their final encounters with Jesus, a church spokesperson explained.

Good Friday fish fry dinner
at Mount Carmel Baptist
STEUBENVILLE -- Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church, located at 708 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, is having a Good Friday fish fry dinner for $12.
It will be held from noon to 3 p.m. The menu includes a whiting fish sandwich, cajun or regular hand-cut fries and cole slaw. Desserts are $3 extra.

Greater Weirton Senior Center to host dance on Thursday
WEIRTON -- The Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., Weirton, will host an Easter dance on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., according to Tammy Margetic, center director.
The cost is $5, which includes a hot dog and punch. Attendees are asked to bring a covered-dish or a dessert to share. There will be a 50-50 drawings with six tickets available for $5.
Dances are being held at the center on the first Thursday of the each month.
John 'Wiz' Fabian memorial Easter egg hunt on Saturday
MINGO JUNCTION -- The John "Wiz" Fabian Memorial Children's Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday at Aracoma Park in Mingo Junction, beginning at 11 a.m.
The event is for children from zero to age 12. A light lunch will be provided, and there will be a visit from the Easter bunny.

A name and the number of children attending should be included in the reservation communication.
In the event of heavy rain, the egg hunt will be moved indoors to the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Starkdale Presbyterian plans Easter egg hunt on Saturday
WINTERSVILLE -- Starkdale Presbyterian Church at 4600 Sunset Blvd., next to Wendy's in Wintersville, is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
Children in grades five and under are invited to participate.
The Rev. Carl Moore will give an Easter message using the resurrection eggs. Other activities include crafts, snacks and a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny. The program will begin in the fellowship hall on the bottom level. Attendees are advised to use the lower parking lot.

at St. Thomas Episcopal
WEIRTON -- An Easter service celebration will be held on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located on Three Springs Drive in Weirton.
The celebrant will be the Rev. Steven McKeown from St. Pauls Episcopal in Steubenville and organist Eric Fithyan.

Ohio Valley BPW Wine, Shoe
Extravaganza is a sellout
STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women's Club has announced that its annual Wine and Shoe Extravaganza on April 28 at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall is a sellout with no tickets remaining.
The event will include celebrating five area women up for Woman of the Year honors. Patrons of the fundraiser for scholarships the club awards will have the opportunity to vote from the field of nominees that includes Shannon Irvin, Sara Lane, Lisa Mort, Amy Parikakis and Rosann Trimmer. The Woman of the Year winner will be announced at the end of the event as the grand finale.
In addition to "a fun night out," organizers have noted it is an opportunity for attendees to take home winnings from a 50-50 drawing and Chinese auction items, and the chance to vote not only for Woman of the Year but also in the Best of Shoe Runway Contest and for the best celebrity server.
Tri-State Writers Society
meeting is set for April 11
STEUBENVILLE -- The Tri-State Writers Society, led by award-winning local author Karina Garrison, will hold its monthly meeting on April 11 at 6 p.m.
It will be held at the Main Library of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County at 407 S. Fourth St., Steubenville. Published and aspiring writers of all genres are welcome to attend.

Brooke County Libraries
accepting comments on plans
Officials with the Brooke County Public Libraries in Wellsburg and Follansbee are updating their five-year plan and welcome input from community members on how to best serve them.
Library director Alexandra Schneider will be available to hear ideas and answer questions from 11 a.m. to noon April 14 and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 27, both dates at the Wellsburg location.
Input also can be shared through a short survey found at https://forms.gle/TjiswjhhwwDvBPt9. The survey is open to those 15 and older and no more than one person per household. It will close April 30.

Pancake' topic for book club
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. April 27 to discuss "The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake."
The book was written by Andre Dubus III, Breece D'J Pancake, James Alan McPherson and John Casey.
