‘Mary Poppins Jr.’ to be presented at Edison

‘SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALODOCIOUS’ — Edison Junior High School in Richmond will bring the enchanting nanny from film and Broadway to life with a “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” performance of the musical “Mary Poppins Jr.,” a scene from which cast members are rehearsing. The production is set for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. RICHMOND — Edison Junior High School will bring the enchanting nanny from film and Broadway to life with a “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” performance of the musical “Mary Poppins Jr.” this week.

The production is set for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

“Our junior high students are rehearsing to bring to life the magic of Mary Poppins to the Edison stage,” said Vocal Music Director Greg Hofmeister. “They are developing British accents, learning to tap and enhancing their vocal abilities and acting chops with this household favorite. The audience can watch as Mary Poppins changes the Banks family of Cherry Tree Lane with the help of Bert and his chimney sweeps.”

He added that elementary students also will appear in the production.

Leading the cast are Leila Cable as Mary Poppins; Paige Somerville as Bert; Gage Applegarth as George Banks; Gwendolyn Stine as Winifred Banks; Nikolas Kline as Michael Banks; Layla White as Jane Banks; Mimi Ault as Mrs. Andrews; Ciara Fiedorczyk as Katie Nanna and Neleus; Dominic Grim as the bank chairman and Von Hussler; Bristol Leanza as Mrs. Brill; Timothy Wiley as Robertson Ay; Madeline Granatir as Mrs. Corry; Mayelee Rawson as the Bird Woman; Thomas Falla as Mr. Northbrook; Taylor Harris as Ms. Smythe; and Alivia Hanlin and Crystal Wilson as honeybees.

Chimney sweeps include Mimi Ault, Teagan Basinger, Madyson Cornell, Thomas Falla, Dominic Grim, Adrienne Granatir, Kallie Granatir, Madeline Granatir, Alivia Hanlin, Taylor Hilderbrand, Madelynn Keister, Mayelee Rawson, Paige Somerville, Gwendolyn Stine and Timothy Wiley with Olivia Ault, Madeline Granatir and Adrienne Granatir among the customers and clerks.
