Church Women United Weirton Unit to hold picnic on Aug. 5

WEIRTON -- The Weirton Unit of Church Women United will have an inside fellowship picnic on Aug. 5 at First Baptist Church, 307 Homewood Ave, Weirton.

It will begin at 11 a.m., and members are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert along with a donation for the backpack and Ukraine mission projects.

'Jesus Is the Ticket' theme for

East Springfield VBS Aug. 8-12

EAST SPRINGFIELD -- "Jesus Is the Ticket" will be the theme of Vacation Bible School at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 203 Church St., East Springfield.

It will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 8-12 and include a meal along with a week of stories, games and crafts based on John 14:6. It is for children in pre-kindergarten through grade six.

Each evening will begin with dinner, and throughout the week, children will receive tickets to use at the carnival planned for Aug. 12. "Families are invited to attend the carnival to play games, share snacks and have plenty of opportunities to take pictures. Bring your camera," a promotional flier notes.

CCHS Class of 1970 having 70th birthday party bash

STEUBENVILLE -- The Catholic Central High School Class of 1970 will be holding a 70th birthday picnic bash on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. in the large shelter house at Aracoma Park in Mingo Junction.

All classmates and their spouses are invited to attend at no cost.

Hopedale Fire Department

hosting two-day flea market

HOPEDALE -- The Hopedale Fire Department and EMS will be hosting a flea market on Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the department headquarters located at 103 Fire House Lane, Hopedale.

It is being held during Hopedale's community yard sale.

There will be a lunch stand available throughout the day, and there will be a 50-50 drawing.
