OVH/ Trinity Nursing School alumni association to meet
STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Valley Hospital/Trinity School of Nursing Alumni Association will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Starkdale Presbyterian Church, 4600 Sunset Blvd.
It will be the usual covered-dish dinner meeting.
This marks the first meeting the association has had since the fall of 2019. The group normally meets twice a year — in April and October — but both 2020 occasions were canceled because of COVID-10 precautions.
There was acknowledgment in the spring newsletter from Melissa Hassan, dean of the school of nursing, that despite a challenging year because of the pandemic, the school’s 2020 NCLEX-RN pass rate was 100 percent. The school ranked third in the state of Ohio for 2019.
The school of nursing has received CARES Act monies which are planned to be used to enhance the skills lab with simulation and other progressive learning tools, according to Hassan’s article. “The receipt of these funds allowed the school to refund the alumni association for the i-Human Patient series that was purchased last year to assist senior nursing students while they were remote learning. We remain eternally grateful for this generous act of kindness,” Hassan wrote.
The mission of the alumni association is to support Trinity Health System School of Nursing, which operates out of Eastern Gateway Community College, and award scholarships each year.
Current and prospective members are reminded that annual dues are $10. For information or to mail correspondence, send it to Treasurer Char Bianco at 2932 Linda Way, Steubenville OH 43952 or Blanche Williams, former president, 301 Williams Blvd., Wintersville OH 43953.
