MORGANTOWN – Local residents awarded doctor of pharmacy degrees from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy were:
Molly Cline of Colliers, the daughter of Linda Cline and the late Douglas Cline and a graduate of Brooke High School. She graduated cum laude and achieved both president’s and dean’s list honors. At graduation, Cline was the recipient of the Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of leadership to the School of Pharmacy, the university or the profession of pharmacy.
Melissa Hood of Follansbee, daughter of Randy Hood and Connie Tarr and a graduate of Brooke High School and West Virginia Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She achieved dean’s list honors. Hood graduated cum laude with a clinical pharmacy practice area of emphasis.

Copeland is the daughter Debbie DeLeonardis Bloomingdale and Jeff Copeland of Cadiz. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 2004. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ohio State University in 2007 and completed a two-year postbaccalaureate program in anatomy at the university in 2011. She plans to practice dental medicine in Scottsdale, Ariz.

West Virginia University School of Pharmacy announced the graduation of the following area students:
Molly Cline of Colliers, the daughter of Linda Cline and the late Douglas Cline, is a graduate of Brooke High School. While studying at the WVU School of Pharmacy, Cline served as finance vice president and American Pharmacists Month event coordinator for the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and the vice president of the WVU chapter of the Alpha Eta chapter of the Phi Lambda Sigma national pharmacy leadership society. She was also a member of the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy and the Alpha Mu chapter of the Rho Chi academic pharmacy honor society. Cline was the recipient of the Bernabei Independent Pharmacy Scholarship, the Ohio/Marshall Counties Pharmaceutical Association Scholarship, and the WVU School of Pharmacy Annual Achievement Scholarship. She achieved both President’s and Dean’s List honors. The President’s List recognizes those who achieve a GPA of 4.0. The Dean’s List recognizes those who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher. At graduation, Cline was the recipient of the Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of leadership to the School of Pharmacy, the University, or the profession of pharmacy. She graduated cum laude and will be employed in hospital pharmacy practice in Weirton.

While studying at the WVU School of Pharmacy, Hood served as the social and community service chair for the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy. She was a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists, and the Beta Eta chapter of the Kappa Psi co-educational pharmaceutical fraternity. She also presented a poster, “Effectiveness of nurse-driven sedation protocol on mechanically-ventilated patients in a pediatric intensive care unit”, at the 2014 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Midyear Clinical Meeting in Anaheim, California; coordinated the Mr. Pharmacy 2014 competition – an event to raise funds for the West Virginia Make-a-Wish Foundation; and coordinated the 2014 WVU School of Pharmacy Variety Show – an event to raise funds for the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center Comfort Fund. Hood was the recipient of the Bernabei Independent Pharmacy Scholarship, the Ohio/Marshall Counties Pharmaceutical Association Scholarship, the Charles Stump Community Service Award, and the WVU School of Pharmacy Dean’s Scholarship. She was also the recipient of the bronze level President’s Volunteer Service Award. She also achieved Dean’s List honors. The Dean’s List recognizes those who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Hood graduated cum laude with a clinical pharmacy practice area of emphasis. She will be employed in community pharmacy practice in Follansbee.

Kelley Stevens of Follansbee, the daughter of Mark and Terri Stevens, is a graduate of Brooke High School. While studying at the WVU School of Pharmacy, Stevens served as the Community Awareness campaign co-chair of the WVU chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and the president and secretary of the Alpha Omicron chapter of the Lambda Kappa Sigma international professional pharmacy fraternity. She was a member of the WVU chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy and the Alpha Mu chapter of the Rho Chi academic pharmacy honor society. Stevens was also a member of the APhA-ASP 2012 Region 2 Midyear Regional Meeting planning committee. Stevens was a recipient of the Bernabei Independent Pharmacy Scholarship, the Ohio/Marshall Counties Pharmaceutical Association Scholarship, and the Roger S. Cole Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship.
