Valley Hospice receives grant to support palliative care
RAYLAND — Valley Hospice has received a grant to support its Caring Connections Palliative Care Program, offering new opportunities to expand care and support for patients and families across the region. While the donor has chosen to remain unnamed, their contribution will have a meaningful impact — helping to provide comfort, dignity and specialized care to patients and families during life’s most challenging moments.
“We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary gift. This $150,000 donation ensures that our growing community-based palliative care program can continue to meet the expanding needs of those we serve,” said Andrea Hale, Valley Hospice CEO. “Because of this generosity, more individuals and families in our community will have access to specialized care that focuses not just on managing serious illness but on comfort, dignity and meaningful conversations about what matters most.”
Caring Connections Palliative Care is the area’s only in-home palliative care program. The program aims to help patients feel better and cope with the stress of living with a serious illness, improving the quality of life of both the patient and their family. The palliative care team works to anticipate, prevent and relieve suffering related to a serious illness or the side effects of treatment.
“As the first provider to bring this level of palliative care into our community, we see every day the difference it makes — relieving suffering, guiding families through difficult decisions and helping people find peace in uncertain moments,” said Hale. “We are honored to carry this work forward and are eager to reach even more people who need support, compassion and guidance in their goals of care. This anonymous donor’s kindness will touch countless lives, and for that, we are profoundly thankful.”
This grant funding will allow Caring Connections Palliative Care to hire an additional nurse practitioner, enabling it to expand the range of services available to patients and families across the Ohio Valley.
