Franciscan University project gets top honors

PITTSBURGH — The Franciscan University of Steubenville was recognized when the Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania honored the region’s top projects at its 2026 Building Excellence Awards, held at Acrisure Stadium.

More than 1,300 industry leaders attended the MBA Construction Industry Evening of Excellence, celebrating projects that reflect this year’s theme, Building What’s Next, and demonstrate how winning work drives economic growth, supports jobs, and sets the standard for quality in the construction industry.

Franciscan University won in the $20-$50 million category for the Christ the Teacher Academic Hall. The contractor for the project was Rycon Construction Inc. and architect was MCF Architecture.

Other winners included Mascaro Construction Co., Caliber Contracting Services Inc., Landau Building Co., PJDick Inc., Jendoco Construction Corp. and Griffin Interior & Fixture Inc.

Individual honors were presented to Eric Shedlock of Mascaro Construction, Labor Champion Award; Bill Speciale of PJ Dick, Safety Champion Award); and Anthony Frangione of McKamish Inc., Safety Professional of the Year.
