Nurse practitioners open new Follansbee practice

Warren Scott A NEW CHOICE — Family nurse practitioners Sandra Lang and Lynn Miller marked the opening of their medical practice, Trucare Health Partners, at the Bluewave Center in Follansbee with a ribbon cutting ceremony arranged by members of the Brooke County Area Chamber of Commerce, including First Vice President Sandy Kemp, who is between Lang and Miller.

FOLLANSBEE — The owners of TruCare Health Partners hope to provide area residents a new choice in health care with the medical services they provide at their family practice in Suite 99 on the second floor of the Bluewave Center, the former site of Follansbee Middle School.

Sandra Lang and Lynn Miller, both of Weirton, are family nurse practitioners, nurses who have earned graduate degrees in advanced practice nursing and a certification in family care.

A graduate of West Virginia University who has mentored with experienced local gynecologists, Lang has specialized in women’s health for 16 years.

She said she has seen females of all ages, guiding them through matters ranging from puberty to menopause.

A graduate of Carlow University and Franciscan University of Steubenville, Miller has worked in family medical care, including local hospitals, for 15 years, and has experience treating bronchitis, shingles, diabetes and other conditions.

Lang said through her new partnership with Miller, the practice has expanded to include men and children.

The two said they strive to create a comfortable atmosphere at their practice, which includes five examination rooms, a lab through which blood samples are collected for tests conducted by Lab Corps and a waiting room as well as office space.

They said that desire to make their patients comfortable extends to their personal approach to providing care.

Miller told members of the Brooke County Area Chamber of Commerce and others attending an open house and ribbon cutting for the new business, ” At TruCare Health Partners, we wanted to create a place where patients feel heard, respected, and cared for — not rushed, not dismissed, and not treated like just another appointment on the schedule.”

“We believe that listening is just as important as treating, and that trust is the foundation of great care. This practice was built with our community in mind. We are proud to offer family practice and women’s health currently and we are committed to growing thoughtfully to meet the needs of the people we serve. Our goal is to partner with our patients through every stage of life and every step of their health journey,” she said.

Miller and Lang said they welcomed the opportunity to operate in a building with several businesses addressing aspects of physical and mental health.

They thanked Lynette and Kevin Carte, owners of Mindset 2 Wellness; the Ewusiak family, who own the building; and Judy Raveaux for their support and Hilltop Plumbing for its part in readying the new facility for use.

They said those interested in scheduling an appointment with TruCare Health Partners can call (304) 505-6045 or info@trucarehealthpartners.org.
