Wellsburg man named to national committee
William Michael Traubert
WELLSBURG — William Michael Traubert of Wellsburg has been selected to serve on the USA Boxing Judicial Standing Committee.
Traubert has been involved with amateur boxing for 53 years.
He judged his first amateur boxing show at age 25 in Hammondsville in 1982.
At age 26, he was the youngest coach involved with the Regional Junior Olympic Boxing Tournament in Philadelphia in 1983.
He also was host of the Allegheny Mountain Association’s Sectional Boxing Tournament, which was held in 1983 at the Weirton Millsop Community Center to raise funds for Weirton Steel’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
Most recently he served as inspector in charge for the West Virginia State Athletic Commission for Amateur and Professional Mixed Martial Arts.
He also has been an active community member, serving on the board for the Hancock-Brooke-Ohio Victims Assistance Program for more than 33 years.
