New procedure is available to file CDL applications

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles has announced filing applications for commercial driver licenses has been made easier through the agency’s online portal at dmv.wv.gov.

DMV Commissioner Everett Frazier said the portal allows an applicant’s medical provider to submit their medical examiner’s certificate electronically.

He said pending payment of a testing fee, which varies according to the endorsement sought, an e-test card will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail address, usually within 24 hours, the applicant will then take to a regional DMV office to take the knowledge test.

Applicants previously had to visit the Kanawha County DMV office to receive their test cards.
