Quick Takes

JOINS STAFF: Niko Otto has joined the staff at the Cedar One Group.

He has been working in construction since high school. He worked during his summer breaks in the field as a mason, estimator and project manager for five years in Erie before moving to Pittsburgh.

In Pittsburgh, Otto worked in commercial construction as a laborer and carpenter for another five years before moving back to the area as the sole proprietor of his own contracting company. His experience in the construction business will be extremely beneficial as he leads the continued growth of Steel Valley Contracting and Maintenance.

Otto has many hobbies. He gardens, raises livestock and makes his own maple syrup. He participates in several sports, hunts, fishes, plays basketball, and enjoys attending NASCAR races and sports betting.

DIGITAL FUNDRAISER: McDonald’s locations across the Tri-State Area will be raising funds for local high school athletics on Oct. 23.

During the High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day, 206 schools across the Three Rivers region will earn 10 percent of all sales purchased through the McDonald’s app. Area schools, and the address of their supporting restaurant, include: Steubenville High School, 2106 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville; Indian Creek High School, 140 Main St., Wintersville; Toronto Junior-Senior High School, 1650 Franklin St., Toronto; Weir High School, Three Springs Drive, Weirton; Brooke High School, 1514 Main St., Follansbee; and Burgettstown Junior-Senior High School, 1412 B. Main St., Burgettstown.

McDonald’s owner-operators developed the fundraiser as a way to support high schools in the communities they serve. Each locally owned restaurant has chosen a high school in its community to donate 10 percent of all digital sales on Oct. 23. Each identified high school will receive a minimum of $250.

“We are proud to have this partnership with our local schools,” said McDonald’s Owner Tom Locke. “Our hope is that community members come out and support their local schools and help us make the day a success throughout the region.”

The McDonald’s app is available for download in the Apple App Store and the Android Google Play Store.
