WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital names Wallace CEO

KARYN WALLACE

WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital has named Karyn Wallace its new president and chief executive officer, effective June 1. Wallace succeeds Carrie Willetts, who previously announced her transition to the role of chief administrative officer for the WVU Health System.

“I am honored to step into this role and lead Uniontown Hospital during such an exciting time for both the hospital and the WVU Health System,” Wallace said. “Having spent my entire career within WVU Medicine, I am deeply committed to our mission and providing the best possible care to our patients. I look forward to working with the dedicated team at Uniontown Hospital to build on our strong foundation and continue to enhance the health and well-being of the community we serve.”

As president and CEO, Wallace will focus on advancing the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality, patient-focused care, strengthening partnerships with physicians and staff, and ensuring continued operational excellence.

Wallace has spent her entire career within the WVU Health System, beginning as a nuclear medicine technologist before advancing through leadership roles in radiology, hospital administration and neuroscience. Most recently, she served as vice president of neuroscience at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, where she led significant clinical expansions, operational improvements, and groundbreaking research initiatives.

Under her leadership, the Institute grew to over 40 locations and established itself as a national and international leader in neuroscience care.

“Karyn’s deep understanding of health care operations, her ability to build strong teams and her commitment to patient-centered care make her an exceptional leader for Uniontown Hospital,” said Michael A. Grace, president and CEO, WVU Hospitals and senior vice president and chief operating officer, WVU Health System. “Her vision and expertise will help drive continued growth and innovation, ensuring that Uniontown Hospital remains a trusted healthcare provider for the community.”

Nancy Decker, chair of Uniontown Hospital’s board of directors, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in Wallace’s leadership.

“Karyn’s impressive track record of success within the WVU Health System, combined with her passion for patient care and operational excellence, makes her the right leader for our hospital,” Decker said. “We are excited to welcome her to Uniontown and look forward to working together to continue advancing the health and well-being of our community.”
