Certified dispatchers

Criminal justice students at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School have passed their National Emergency Communications Certification exams and are now eligible to become 911 dispatchers. Instructor Jamie Freeman said students completed a 40-hour online course where they practiced radio communication and taking calls through simulations, then followed up with the exam to earn their 911 Basic Dispatcher certification. The credential provides an advantage should they seek employment in the field. Among those earning certification were, from left, juniors Brookelina Grigsby, Darrell Dunbar, Paige Casto and Leontea’ Gregory. Oktober Cope also earned certification. — Contributed
