Sweeney named Ohio State Bar Foundation director

COLUMBUS — Laurie Beth Sweeney has been named executive director of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.

The current chief experience officer at the Wellington School will step into her new role in April.

“I am honored to join the Ohio State Bar Foundation as its executive director,” said Sweeney. “Throughout my career, I have been passionate about fostering philanthropy, building strong community partnerships and driving organizational growth. I look forward to working alongside the OSBF board of trustees, staff, grantees and individual and organizational partners across the state to expand the foundation’s impact and further its commitment to justice and the legal profession.”

Sweeney brings extensive leadership experience in stakeholder engagement, resource development and strategic planning across nonprofit, educational and philanthropic sectors. Her career includes roles at the Columbus College of Art and Design, Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and the Wellington School.

With a track record of securing philanthropic support, strengthening stakeholder relationships, securing philanthropic support and enhancing organizational sustainability, Sweeney has been instrumental in driving meaningful community impact.

“Laurie Beth Sweeney is a dynamic and visionary leader with a deep understanding of nonprofit development and community engagement,” said Sarah K. Skow, OSBF board president. “Her expertise and passion for justice and philanthropy will be invaluable in advancing OSBF’s mission and expanding our reach. Sweeney and her family live in the Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus.

Foundation officials thanked Interim Executive Directors Terri Gehr and Carol Marx for the work through the transition.
