New restaurant welcomed to Hooverson Heights area

Warren Scott A NEW PLACE TO EAT — The Follansbee Chamber of Commerce welcomed Jusino’s Family Restaurant, a new eatery at 150 Rockdale Road, Hooverson Heights, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Owner Robert Jusino served lunch for many chamber members in attendance.
FOLLANSBEE — A new restaurant has opened, offering breakfast and lunch throughout the week and, the owner hopes, dinner on a regular basis in the not distant future.
Robert Jusino, owner of Jusino’s Family Restaurant at 150 Rockdale Road, said he has been in the food industry for 27 years.
He said he’s worked in a variety of settings, from pizza shops and dinners to casinos and country clubs, many of them in Atlantic City, N.J., where he grew up.
And his interest in food has taken him as far as Boulder, Colo., where he studied at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.
Jusino said he has dreamed of owning and operating his own restaurant since he was a boy and learned of the Hooverson Heights location through his ex-wife, who had brought him to this area.
He said he’s currently building the staff for his new restaurant, including cooks, so he initially limited his hours to 6 a.m. through 2 p.m. seven days a week to offer breakfast and lunch. But he has been adding dinner on a trial basis, with hours posted on the business’ Facebook page at Jusino’s Family Restaurant.
Jusino’s offers an assortment of breakfast fare, including eggs served any style, including omelets; sausage, biscuits and gravy; and hot cakes and French toast, both available with strawberries, blueberries or chocolate chips.
There’s also a children’s menu, with smaller portions, for breakfast and lunch.
For lunch there is a variety of sandwiches, including a BLT, meaty hamburgers, hot dogs and fish or chicken, all served with fries or chips.
Jusino’s also offers salad with a variety of ingredients, including chicken, steak and fries.
Takeout and delivery are available by calling (304) 505-6026.
Jusino said he’s looking forward to offering such dinner entrees as spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed shells, chicken parmesan and other chicken dishes, shrimp and other seafood and meat loaf.
Currently offering muffins, scones and chocolate chip cookies, he also plans to serve up pie, cheesecake and other desserts in the future.
Jusino said his overall goal is to serve tasty food in a relaxing environment and invites everyone to stop by the restaurant, which is a short distance from Allegheny Street in Follansbee.
