Ohio Conference NAACP elects officers

COLUMBUS — Tom Roberts, former Ohio state senator and second vice president of the Dayton Unit NAACP, has been re-elected as president of the Ohio Conference NAACP. Election results were announced Sept. 9 at the Embassy Suites in Dublin.

Derrick L. Foward, president of the Dayton Unit NAACP, was re-elected as first vice president; Andre Washington, president of Ohio APRI, was re-elected as second vice president; Annette McCoy, president of the Trumbull County NAACP, was elected as third vice president; Dora Bronston, former vice mayor of Middletown, was re-elected as secretary; the Rev. Willie L. Perryman, Jr., president of the Toledo NAACP, was re-elected as treasurer; Oliver Warren, first vice president of the Wooster-Orrville NAACP, was re-elected as assistant secretary; and WilliAnn Moore, former president of the Toledo NAACP, was re-elected as assistant treasurer.

The candidates were unopposed. Their terms will run through Sept. 13, 2025.

“We will remain focused on issues related to economic sustainability, education, health, public safety and criminal justice, voting rights and political representation and expanding youth and young adult engagement,” said Roberts. “We will continue to hold everyday Ohioans, small and large business owners and corporations accountable for any racial or bigoted actions they may take in the future. We have no permanent friends or permanent enemies, only permanent interests. We must all strive to live in an America that is inclusive of all people.”

Founded in 1931, the Ohio Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the state’s oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization.
