STEUBENVILLE — The recipients of the second-annual CommonSpirit Health Physician Enterprise Vision Awards have been selected, and Trinity Health System was well-represented.
“As an organization, CommonSpirit Health knows that the current landscape in health care is incredibly challenging,” said James Mirasola, vice president of medical group enterprise for Trinity. “The Physician Enterprise Vision Awards recognize our employees’ perseverance, compassion and care. There is so much to be grateful for and celebrate and we are so inspired when we reflect on the incredible work across our health system.”
Trinity Health System hosted two ceremonies to honor the award recipients, the first on June 7 in Dennison for Trinity Hospital Twin City recipients and the other on June 12, in Steubenville.
And the winners are:
• Innovation Award: Trinity Health System cardiovascular service line, cardiac remote monitoring program: Leads Brittany Alford and Drs. Triston Smith, John Schirger and Gregory Suero.

Contributed INNOVATION AWARD — Gennie Arbogast, center, and her Trinity Health System Specialty Service Line team display the CommonSpirit Physician Enterprise Innovation Award.
“We are honored to receive the innovation and patient experience awards, as they truly embody our commitment to revolutionizing healthcare experiences. Our innovative solutions, combined with our unwavering dedication to patients, create a synergistic force that drives us forward as leaders in the field,” Smith said.
“It’s always a privilege to care for our patients, and it’s gratifying to see that they feel that our care is excellent. We are always trying to improve care for them, and our home monitoring system is one aspect that we’re excited about,” Schriger added.
• Trinity Health System specialty service line, orthopedics, sports medicine, neurology, pain medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation strategic development and growth: Gennie Arbogast
“I am honored to be a recipient of this year’s Innovation Award centering around strategic development and growth of the specialty service line,” Arbogast said.
“All leaders need to be surrounded by people who help them capitalize on their strengths, identify their weaknesses and help them to continually grow. I am fortunate to have an inspiring leadership group surrounding me and teams of experienced and strong professionals in the clinics from the physicians to the service line coordinators to the front-line staff,” she added. “Innovative ideas won’t succeed without the strength of the whole team to implement the vision. I am very blessed to lead a team that shares the dedication to improve processes, accept change, and focus on delivering excellent patient care for our community.”

Contributed MOST IMPROVED — Dr. Coleen Hart, center right, and her team hold the CommonSpirit Physician Enterprise Quality: Most Improved Award for Hypertension Management.
“Arbogast has done a tremendous job coordinating the expansion of our service line and has created a productive and efficient delivery of musculoskeletal care for the patients in our community,” said Dr. Kumar Amin, medical director of orthopedics.
Added Dr. Justin Baker, director of P3 Performance, “Gennie has been an integral part in the growth of the orthopedic and sports service line. She faces daily challenges head-on and is often consulted for her problem-solving capabilities. She has been a rock for the organization and is a reliable, intelligent leader.”
“I feel that Gennie has the same job duties today that she had when I first met her back in 2012. These include patient coordination, facilitating communication between physicians, fitting patients with durable medical equipment), and helping out in the therapy clinic with treatments. This is all while fulfilling her duties as the service line director,” said Dr. Aaron Orlosky of the sports medicine department.
“So much has changed over the years for her, including her title, the physicians she works alongside, and the administration of the hospital. Throughout all these local changes and the major transformations in the healthcare landscape, her work ethic has remained consistent. She has always remained flexible in her approach to achieve positive results. I believe she is very deserving of this recognition.”
And, Dr. Michael Scarpone, the medical director of sports medicine, added, “Arbogast has ground-up experience in sports medicine, making her a valuable asset for helping our team to continue to develop a great sports medicine program.”

This honor does not belong to me, but to the whole staff, as they are the first people that my patients interact with in the office. Without their excellent customer service and patient care, the practice would not be as busy and thriving like it is. I look forward to continuing to work with my staff to provide the best care possible for all of my patients,” Burke said.
“I am proud of the award, not for my own sake, but because I’m really proud of the effort my staff puts in every day. They work really hard to help deliver personal care to our patients, and I’m really glad to see that they are recognized for all their hard work,” Kissinger added.
Powell added, “I am truly honored to receive the Patient Experience: Best Performance Clinical Award. These awards are anchored on the CommonSpirit Health vision statement. A healthier future for all — inspired by faith, driven by innovation, and powered by our humanity. They acknowledge contributions of both physicians and advanced practice providers, with separate award categories for each, officials explained
“The winners definitely represent all the components of the mission,” Arbogast said. “They are passionate about their role, they work hard to make sure they are bringing the best of the best to the Ohio Valley, and their compassion for their patients is seen daily in everything that they do.”
CommonSpirit Health is one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, with more than 1,000 care sites in 21 states coast to coast, serving 20 million patients in big and small towns across America.
Honoring the award winners is important, explained Matt Grimshaw, Trinity’s chief executive officer.
“It’s exciting to see national recognition of the outstanding work that everyone in our medical group is doing to improve the quality and service we provide to the patients of the Ohio Valley,” Grimshaw said.
“Teamwork is the foundation that has allowed this group to excel in the space of patient experience and innovation. I am extremely proud of their collective work and this recent recognition.”
“We are grateful for all our staff and providers and their consistent effort and dedication to serving our patients,” Mirasola said.
