CONVENTION HELD: The National Association of Royalty Owners’ newest chapter, NARO Ohio, held its first state convention on Sept. 16-17 at the Prichard Laughlin Center.
Convention Co-chairs Sandi Thompson and Pat Marcum, along with other NARO Ohio Board members, planned and executed an excellent well attended freshman effort that was enjoyed by all.
Speakers included chapter Co-presidents Barry Browne and Dan Devitt; EQT President Toby Rice, whose recorded message covered the role of Appalachian hydrocarbons in the domestic energy supply and energy security of the United States; NARO National Executive Director Jack Fleet; and state Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Brunner.
Sessions included legal updates, new information on Ohio’s orphan well program, post production deductions, leases and contracts, the economic scope of hydrocarbons in Ohio, forced pooling, hydrogen, natural gas pricing, adverse possession and oil and gas reporting.

NOW AT HARRISON: Dr. Derek Golna has joined the WVU Medicine Harrison CommunityHospital family practice team. Golna is DOT certified and sees patients from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the hospital. He graduated from Allegheny College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at the Cornerstone Care Teaching Health Center in Mount Morris, Pa., and Morgantown. He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Golna’s clinical interests include behavioral health in primary care and addiction medicine. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching European soccer and spending time with his family. Golna resides in Mount Pleasant and is committed to serving his local community. Golna is located in the Family Practice Suite in Harrison Community Hospital and is accepting new patients. PROMOTED: Jaime Romanyak has been named as branch manager for the Toronto Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. She has been employed with the library system for 24 years. In addition to branch manager, Romanyak will continue responsibilities with audio and visual, government documents and cataloging.
She said she enjoys having contact with the customers, getting to know them and helping them. “I love working at the library because of the amount of knowledge at your fingertips.”
