FINANCIAL AID: Franciscan University of Steubenville will participate in #GivingTuesday, the annual worldwide day of giving. All donations received by Franciscan University will go toward student scholarships and financial aid.
“I don’t want any of our students to miss the chance to be educated, evangelized, and sent forth as witnesses of God’s love in the church and the world,” said the Rev. Dave Pivonka, TOR, university president.
“Yet, the reality is that 90 percent of our students need financial aid. We’ve heard many stories of the sacrifices made by parents so their children could come to Franciscan University in the midst of this worldwide pandemic. For our students’ sake, please consider a donation on Giving Tuesday.”
Every person who donates $60 or more to the university, either as a one-time gift or at $5 per month, will receive a forest-green T-shirt with a university logo.
Those who give $250 or more will receive the 10-episode “Metanoia” DVD set. Giving Tuesday began Friday and continues through Dec. 1.
EXPANDING: Southwestern Energy Company is expanding its operations in Ohio and West Virginia through its acquisition of Montage Resources, adding local employees and new communities to its existing Appalachian operations.
The acquisition, which was completed Nov. 13, includes nearly 325,000 acres in Southeast Ohio and Northwest West Virginia, adding to Southwestern’s position of 786,000 acres across West Virginia, Northeast Pennsylvania and Southwest Ohio.
“We’re proud to bring our decades of experience and commitment to health, safety, environmental protection and local engagement to our new operating areas,” Derek Cutright, SWN’s senior vice president for the Southwest Appalachia Division, said. “We look forward to being part of a bright and safe energy future in all of our communities, and we’re eager to meet our new neighbors.”
