Carriage Inn fills two medical positions
A Steubenville native, Powell obtained his bachelor of science degree in biology from Bethany College in 2004. He graduated from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in 2008, completing his internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown in 2011. Later that year, he joined Trinity Health System, where he continues to work as a primary care physician.
Joining him is his wife and Nurse Practitioner April Vella-Powell, APRN-CNP. She is a native of Mingo Junction and graduated from the Trinity School of Nursing in 2003. Vella-Powell worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Wheeling Hospital and Trinity Health System, where she trained in emergency/trauma, as well as cardiac nursing. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio University in 2013. She then attained her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Cincinnati in 2015. She works as a primary care nurse practitioner for Trinity Health System.
“We are pleased to have them join our leadership team here at Carriage Inn and Carriage House,” said Jaime Herald, Carriage Inn administrator.
“We are confident that their commitment to providing excellent health care will build upon the strong foundation already set forth by our team. Both are excellent providers and proven leaders who are dedicated to fulfilling our mission and vision by helping to allow seniors age on their own terms.
“We look forward to working with them to ensure our community continues to get the best care possible,” she continued.
