WELLSBURG — A longtime dental practice in the city is undergoing changes.

Dr. Olivia Mason has purchased the operation of Dr. David G. Edwards, a move that will include the rebranding of the practice as Almost Heaven Family Dentistry.

“For the past 47 years, I have devoted my personal and professional life to this community and to the dental needs and desires of all of you,” Edwards wrote in a letter to patients. “I have been greatly blessed by you and my wonderful staff in so many ways. You have all become part of our family. I have been searching for a young dentist to assume my dental practice and am very happy to tell you that I have found just the right person in Mason.”

Edwards will continue to work part-time through the transition, and the staff will remain in place to ensure the same top-quality care at affordable rates for all patients. Other changes are planned for the practice, which is located at 1512 Commerce St. Mason will offer cosmetic procedures including Botox and dermal fillers, as well as advanced care for young children and those with disabilities who are unable to sit for dental care in a typical setting. She has earned a certificate in gerontology through West Virginia University for her advanced education in treating elderly patients and welcomes senior patients into the practice.

“I am thrilled to carry on Dr. Edwards’ legacy of care and commitment to the Wellsburg community. Combining the same quality of care while also bringing in new technologies is going to offer our patients the highest level of care at the affordable rate they’re used to,” said Mason. “I feel so fortunate for the opportunity to partner with Edwards and I can’t wait to meet my patients.”

A Wheeling native, Mason said she has been looking to move back to the Northern Panhandle to live and work near her family. She earned a bachelor of science degree in speech language pathology and doctor of dental surgeries at WVU.

She has experience in hospital and clinical dentistry services through her work at WVU Medicine, several private practices and Red Lake Reservation in Bemidji, Minn. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics.

Mason volunteers her professional services in the dental clinic at Wheeling Health Right and Susan Dew Hoff Clinic and participates in remote area medical clinics throughout the state..
