Weirton police issues warrant in murder case

WEIRTON – Weirton police have issued a warrant as part of the investigation into an alleged murder in the city's downtown Tuesday. Weirton Police Chief Charlie Kush, in a statement issued Wednesday morning, announced a warrant had been issued for David Barger, 69, following the death of his wife, Donna Barger. Weirton officers responded to 3931 Grant St. at approximately 2:24 p.m. Tuesday, after receiving a request for a welfare check at the property. Fourth rabid raccoon prompts renewed warning in Brooke County

WELLSBURG — Brooke County health officials are urging residents to remain vigilant as additional cases of rabies continue to be identified in the county. "Unfortunately, we've had another rabid raccoon," Brooke County Health Administrator Mike Bolen reported during Tuesday's meeting of the Brooke County Commission.
