BELLAIRE – The chief of the Bellaire Fire Department has been suspended following allegations he physically assaulted a woman in Shadyside. Tim Bell is accused of an assault that allegedly occurred early Sunday morning. According to a police report, officers were called to the Shadyside American Legion at 12:19 a.m. in regards to an assault. Shadyside Police Chief Don Collette confirmed that assault charges have been filed with the Belmont County Prosecutor's Office against Bell. Phoenix Program earns recertification

STEUBENVILLE — The Phoenix Program of the Jefferson County Courthouse has earned final certification from the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Specialized Dockets. The program, overseen by Common Pleas Judge Michelle Miller, has been operating for more than 11 years and has undergone recertification several times. Jefferson County awarded $60,000 for new snow plow blades

COLUMBUS — The Jefferson County Engineer's Office was recently awarded $60,000 in the fourth round of grant funding by Ohio EPA's H2Ohio Rivers Chloride Reduction Grant Program. The funds will be used to purchase articulating snow plow blades for the department's 15 plow trucks. The new blades are more efficient at removing snow from the roadway.
