POLICE REPORTS

STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Spit and polish: A man was allegedly "spitting in a female's face while she walked to work" at Sunset and John Scott Highway Tuesday. Police said the woman “gave them a detailed description" of the man who spit on her and they found him walking in the 4200 block of Sunset. When they tried to speak with him they claim he "began to yell at (them) and walk away, attempting to enter a wooded area" and a struggle ensued when they tried to detain him. Police said Morgan Mitchell, 25, of Cleveland was booked on charges of simple assault, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

Back-talking: A 15-year-old resident said she and her boyfriend were arguing and he "was talking excitedly with his hands' and accidentally struck her infant daughter with the back of his hand Tuesday. She said the baby was fine but it sparked an argument with her grandmother and eventually her older sister got involved. Grandma agreed it was an accident but when she and her granddaughter started arguing, the granddaughter "got right in her face and was talking very disrespectfully" which caused her older granddaughter to get involved. Grandma wanted the boyfriend to leave the residence for a while "due to the arguing between him and the 15-year-old."

Welcomed home: A woman who'd just been released from rehab came home to find her side door kicked in and her television stolen Tuesday. She said a witness told her a woman known to her had been in her home while she was away and stole the TV. She said the woman denied stealing anything but they argued anyway and it turned into a fist fight. Police said she wasn't worried about the fight but wants to pursue a theft charge.
