STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Pinnochio: Two truck drivers argued Monday outside Mr. Fuel and one of them claimed he was assaulted. Police watched security footage, which showed the first driver gas up, then pull up so he wasn't blocking the pumps while he went inside for a receipt. Driver No. 2 pulled in and walked inside the store to inquire about a part he wanted to buy but when he was told they didn't have it, he went back to his truck and "immediately...began blowing his horn for the truck in front to move." Driver No. 2 then got out and approached the first driver, at which point the two of them argued. Police said Driver No. 2 driver told them he walked back to his truck with the first driver following and claimed the other driver "raised his hand in a fist and then shoved the door closed on him with both hands in an attempt to hurt him." When police challenged his account, pointing out the security video showed the other driver pushing the door with one hand, they said Driver No. 2 "became irate." He then claimed his back was injured but refused medical attention, though he did tell them he was going to contact the prosecutor.

Vehicular mayhem: A woman in the 300 block of Cedar Avenue said she was "maneuvering her vehicle in her driveway" Monday but her brakes gave out and she crashed her vehicle into her neighbor's backyard. Police said it appeared she "drove off the right side of (her) roadway, sideswiped (the building next door) and crashed into (her neighbor's) backyard fence." The woman's vehicle was heavily damaged, police said, and some electrical wires connected to her neighbor's meter were also damaged.

Familiar face: A Rosswell Avenue resident said her neighbor saw a woman going into her house Monday. She told police a woman had stolen from her in the past and asked police to make sure she wasn't still inside. Police said they found a male family member upstairs, taking a bath.

Wall whispers: A caller said a male named "Tim" who'd assaulted her previously was in the room next to her, "talking to her through the walls and making threats towards her." When they asked her where they could find him she said the man "moves around frequently and is never in the same place."

Acting out: A caller reported a man had been assaulted and property damaged at a west end location Monday. Police were told the male had a "behavior issue and began acting erratic" and had "slapped staff members...and put his head through a wall." Police said the man did have an obvious head injury.

Multiple charges: Two people were taken into custody after police allegedly found drugs and paraphernalia in their possession during a traffic stop Tuesday. Police said the driver, Tea Simmons, 28, 206 Main St., Steubenville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possessing drugs, possessing drug paraphernalia and obstruction and her passenger, William VanDyke, 32, 707 Federal St., Toronto, was booked on two counts of possessing drugs, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor drug possession, resisting arrest and probation violation. Police said they recognized VanDyke and were aware there was an active warrant for his arrest but alleged he refused to roll his window down and Simmons repeatedly refused to unlock the doors even after being told about his warrant. Police reported finding a substance believed to be methamphetamine in VanDyke's wallet, scales with residue in his pocket and said a used pipe and a large, fixed-blade knife fell from his pocket. A used pipe, around three Xanax tablets and a small bag containing a substance believed to be crack was found on Simmons, police allege. Police report spotting an open Coors Light in the center console and upon investigating, discovered a cooler VanDyke allegedly said was his containing two unlabeled pill bottles, one of which they believe contained a substance believed to be crack and the other, suboxone strips and Buprenorphine tablets. Police said neither of them claimed ownership of a bag stuffed in the sun glass holder containing what was believed to be more crack but, since either of them could reach it, both were charged. According to the report, VanDyke is believed to have had nearly 2.4 grams of cocaine, three suboxone strips and 44 Buprenorphine pills in his possession; and Simmons, .75 grams of cocaine, .80 grams fentanyl and 3.5 Xanax tablets.

Drugs: A downtown caller told police she thought her friend had taken Xanax on top of her prescription medicine and it was causing her to overdose Monday. Steubenville firefighters were already treating the woman when police arrived but police said her breathing was labored and she wasn't answering questions. The caller told police she wasn't sure if there was any more of the Xanax in the residence and said she found out after the fact someone had given the woman who was overdosing some because she "was acting irate and had slurred speech" and admitted to taking one. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Border issue: A Troy Drive resident complained to police Monday her neighbor had removed plants from her property and replanted them in his yard. She also said he hasn't been maintaining a shrub that separates their properties.

Booked: Sean E. Miller, 36, 2512 Crabbe Blvd., Steubenville, fugitive from justice warrant (Brooke County), Monday.
