STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Chores: A man in the 1300 block of West Adams Street told police he was arguing with his mother when she "threw a pot against the wall" Monday. She said her son is an adult but “does nothing around the house and when asked to, he ignores her." She admitted throwing the pot "to get his attention" but didn't hurl it in his direction. Mom said she wants him out of her house but police told her she'd have to file eviction papers to do it.

Choices: A caller reported "several people in the parking lot" of a building in the 2500 block of Crabbe Boulevard arguing Monday. A man told police his 15-year-old daughter was refusing to leave with him and his mother, so police "gave her the option of leaving with her family or (them)." She got in grandma's car.

Instigating: An officer handling a call in the 1600 block of State Street said "a small group of individuals" nearby began yelling "back and forth" at one another Sunday. During this, he said a juvenile wearing all black walked passed by, advising the group was "trying to do something." The officer said the other group advised the juvenile "just approached their residence with a knife, asking for two other juveniles at the residence to step outside" but had a case of amnesia and wouldn't give officers the boy's name.

Cited: A city resident was cited after she allegedly bumped a woman standing on a sidewalk as she tried to pull into Sunset Boulevard Monday. The pedestrian, who said she was not injured and refused medical attention, said she was walking from Taco Bell and "was slightly distracted" and felt a small bump but was not injured. The driver, identified as Erica Hannan, 34, 401 Dresden Ave., Steubenville, said she looked to her left to see if it was safe for her to pull out, then looked right and saw the female standing still but it "appeared she was waiting for (the driver) to continue." She said she looked to the right again and proceeded to go but bumped the pedestrian. Police said Hannan was cited for right of way on sidewalk.

Open door: A Linda Way resident told police when she came home her front door was open but "no one should be inside" Sunday. Police checked the residence but no one was inside.

Crowded: A N. 4th Street resident told police two people were in his closet Monday. Police looked in his closet but it was empty. He refused medical attention.

Bickering: Two men causing a disturbance at a fitness center in the city told police they'd been arguing over a weight lifting bench Monday.

Theft: A man in the 2000 block of Sunset Boulevard reported his battery-assisted bike was stolen Monday, but he found it "hanging on a fence in front of (a nearby) pizza shop." He said his chain, a pedal and the left side all had been damaged.

JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF

Heist: Someone with a fake CDL "stole $1 million in tungsten powder" from a Burgettstown location Saturday. The stolen tungsten was supposed to have been delivered to a Towanda, Pa. location. The truck was spotted in Jefferson County.

Reported: A bystander reported seeing a man assaulting a woman and “attempting to drag her into a vehicle" Saturday in Salineville.

Misplaced sympathy: A caller reported seeing three juveniles behind the gas station in Tiltsonville "messing around with the stones at the Indian Mound" Saturday. The caller said an adult was "yelling at the (kids) to stop," which she thought was inappropriate.

Fraud: A Rayland resident in the middle of filing for bankruptcy said she was notified an inmate had charged $86 to a credit card in her name she didn't know she had Sunday. She told deputies she thinks an individual known to her who is currently serving time "may have opened an account in her name."

Dumper: A woman reported a vehicle she had previously seen dumping refuse at an abandoned property in Pottery Addition had returned Sunday. This time, she was able to relay to deputies the license plate of the vehicle involved.
