POLICE REPORTS
STEUBENVILLE POLICE
Jealous ex: A Sherman Avenue resident said her ex "came into her home and confronted her about dating someone else" Tuesday. She said he became agitated and "began making statements about hitting her in the face." Police said she told them she feared for her safety so she ran into the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife, but he "drew a firearm and continued making threats about hitting her" and when she called for help he fled. They share a child and police said she wants to pursue charges.
Hard break: A city resident told police she's being harassed by her boyfriend's ex Tuesday. She said she's known the other woman for about a decade, though the last two years they've had problems because of the boyfriend. She said the ex told her she's "not going to stop until she ends up dead" and that she'd managed to get the man fired from his job "over a Facebook post from the past." She showed police screenshots of text messages the two of them exchanged, but after seeing them police said it appeared "that both were willingly communicating with each other, which incited (the other woman) to keep making harassing statements." They advised the caller to change her phone number or delete the social media account so the other woman couldn't contact her again.
All clear: A caller reported four men in front of a residence in the 600 block of Grandview Avenue fighting Tuesday. Police said nothing was going on when they pulled up and all four men denied calling for help.
Mum's the word: A woman asked police to help her retrieve her property from an apartment in the 400 block of N. 6th Street Tuesday. They tried to speak with the man present but he "ignored (them) and refused to speak with (them) about the issue."
Hit-skipped: A Ravine Street (rear) resident told police Tuesday someone managed to hit his car while it was parked in his driveway and then fled the scene. He said he was working with neighbors to retrieve surveillance footage.
Cited: Sarah E. Rettinger, 40, 420 Lauretta Dr., Steubenville, failure to yield after a two-car collision Tuesday in the 2400 block of Sunset Boulevard. Police said Rettinger told them she attempted a U-turn from the curb lane and was struck by the other vehicle. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, they said. Also, Elizabeth A. Ruscelli, 71, Triadelphia, and Ashley C. Pastor, 22, Fairfax, VA, speeding in a school zone; a vehicle parked on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue ticketed.
JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF
Cursed: A Yorkville caller said two men on black motorcycles were ripping around town, with one stopping and “[yelling] obscenities at him" Monday.
Booked: Alexis Rood, 24, 917 Main St., Steubenville, warrant for burglary, criminal damaging, possession of drugs (Toronto County Court), warrant for possession of drugs (Municipal Court), Monday. Rood was taken into custody after deputies responding to an unrelated disturbance did a warrant check.
Get along: A Rayland resident said a neighbor with whom she's had issues in the past was mowing the right of way "and is trying to hit her with the tractor and keeps running up against her and blowing grass on her" Monday. The caller told deputies she believes the woman is "altering the right-of-way."
Uninvited: A Cadiz Road resident requested a deputy's assistance at her home "due to a person known to her entering without permission" Tuesday.
